Food trucks arrive on Fifth Street, the Columbia County Fall Fair begins its first weekend, and museums in Aiken and Augusta offer two free stops. For the November 6–8 weekend, the choices range from an outdoor festival to a quiet Sunday afternoon with art.

Here are four options, with admission separated from food and ride costs. All times are Eastern Standard Time.

Foodees Fest on Fifth Street

Foodees Fest runs Friday, November 6, from 1 to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, November 7–8, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fifth Street in downtown Augusta.

Admission is free and the festival is open to all ages. Food and merchandise purchases cost extra. The organizer encourages free advance registration but says it is not required.

The festival operates rain or shine, although unsafe severe weather can change plans. Check the organizer’s updates before leaving if the forecast turns threatening.

The fair’s first weekend in Grovetown

The Columbia County Fall Fair runs November 5–15 at the fairgrounds, 5462 Columbia Road in Grovetown. This weekend’s hours are Friday, November 6, from 5 to 11 p.m.; Saturday, November 7, from noon to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, November 8, from 1 to 10 p.m.

Gate admission is $10. Children ages 6 and under enter free. Unlimited rides cost an additional $30 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the gate, according to the organizer’s price schedule. Food and other purchases are separate.

One rule matters for families planning an evening visit: after 7 p.m., visitors ages 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent. The fair’s linked ticket page states that requirement.

Heritage Day in Aiken

The Aiken County Historical Museum’s Heritage Day is Saturday, November 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 433 Newberry Street SW in Aiken.

The free, family-friendly event features heritage crafts and demonstrations. It is the Saturday option for families who want a museum outing without an admission charge.

A free Sunday at the Morris

The Morris Museum of Art, 1 Tenth Street in Augusta, is open Sunday, November 8, from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday admission is free, according to the museum.

That makes the Morris an indoor option for the weekend. This listing covers regular museum admission, rather than promising a particular workshop or special program.
