Augusta, GA — Mayor Johnson Launches Re-Election Campaign

Augusta, GA – Augusta Mayor Garnett L. Johnson has officially launched his campaign for re-election as the 85th Mayor of Augusta-Richmond County.

 

In remarks delivered at the event, Johnson framed his campaign around continuity, accountability, and completing initiatives begun during his first term.

 

“I ask you for the opportunity to earn your vote again,” Johnson said. “Let me earn it every single day.”¹

 

Johnson cited what he described as a stance of “no new taxes,” the city’s recovery from Hurricane Helene, and progress on charter review discussions as core elements of his first term.¹

 

According to the Georgia Secretary of State, candidate qualifying for the 2026 election cycle is scheduled for March 2–6, 2026, with the general election set for November 3, 2026.²
