Charles “Chuckie” Williams held a 61-vote lead over incumbent Ed Lowery in Richmond County’s District 6 school-board race in unofficial returns Wednesday morning after all seven precincts reported, making it the tightest of the county’s contested school-board races.

Williams had 3,595 votes, or 50.43%, to Lowery’s 3,534, or 49.57%, according to the county’s official election-results site.

The county reported all 65 precincts fully reporting overall. The returns are still unofficial: the elections office says accepted provisional ballots will be added before certification. The page does not give a count of outstanding provisional ballots, so the 61-vote margin should not be treated as a final result.
